Where to Get Endocrine Care in Dallas: Academic, Hospital, Safety-Net and VA Options

Endocrine care in Dallas runs through a handful of systems: an academic medical center, a public safety-net system, community hospital systems and the VA. Here is what each one offers, based only on sources we could verify, with no rankings and no paid placements.

An independent guide, not a medical practice

This guide describes how Dallas health systems organize endocrine care. It is not a medical practice, doesn't recommend doctors and is not a substitute for advice from a licensed physician. Confirm details with each system before you go.

We profile each system using official pages where we found them, and we label third-party listings as such. Where we couldn't verify something, we say so instead of filling the gap.

UT Southwestern Medical Center

UT Southwestern's Endocrinology Division is part of its Department of Internal Medicine and says it covers "all aspects of endocrinology." Its listed research strengths are steroid hormone biosynthesis and metabolism, endocrine development and reproduction. The division's address is 5323 Harry Hines Blvd. UT Southwestern also says U.S. News & World Report ranks it among the top 25 U.S. hospitals for diabetes and endocrinology; the division page we read showed no ranking year.

Where UTSW sees adult patients

  • New patients: 214-645-2800
  • UTSW Medical Center at Park Cities: 8611 Hillcrest Road, 2nd Floor, Dallas, TX 75225; 214-692-3160
  • Endocrinology, Internal Medicine Subspecialties Clinic: West Campus Building 3, 2001 Inwood Road, 8th Floor, Dallas, TX 75235; 214-645-6397
  • UTSW Frisco, 12500 Dallas Parkway: Endocrine Cancer Clinic and surgical specialties

UTSW lists five endocrinology locations in total, and each location page links to its own parking information. Its endocrine surgeons offer immediate appointments for first consults or second opinions, according to UT Southwestern's endocrinology page.

Pediatric endocrinology with Children's Health

UTSW's Division of Pediatric Endocrinology provides all endocrinology services to Children's Health. Families can refer themselves or get a referral from a doctor, and the Endocrine/Diabetes Clinic number is 214-456-5959. The division reports 18 faculty, 3 clinical sites, about 21,000 outpatient visits and 3 fellows, and says it runs one of the largest pediatric diabetes programs in the U.S. Its faculty also direct medical care at Camp Sweeney. The division didn't date these figures. Patient information is on the pediatric endocrinology page.

Parkland Health

Parkland Health is Dallas County's public safety-net system. We didn't find an official Parkland endocrinology page, so the details here come from UT Southwestern and a journal article. Parkland is a primary teaching site for UT Southwestern's endocrinology fellowship, which lists these Parkland clinics:

  • Parkland Endocrine Clinic
  • Lipid Clinic
  • Multidisciplinary Endocrine Tumor Clinic
  • Mineral Metabolism Clinic
  • Parkland Global Diabetes Program

A 2022 article in Clinical Diabetes describes the Parkland Diabetes Clinic as an endocrinology clinic serving Dallas County's low-income population. Its team includes endocrinologists, fellows, physician associates and nurse practitioners, along with diabetes educators, a social worker and a clinical pharmacist.

Because Parkland is a teaching site, fellows are part of the care team. Ask Parkland Health directly how to become a patient and how referrals to its endocrine clinics work.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas is a teaching hospital in the Vickery Meadow area and the flagship of Texas Health Resources. It opened in 1966 and has 875 beds (Wikipedia). We didn't find an official endocrinology page for the hospital; the source we found lists texashealth.org/dallas as its website.

Third-party directories can show who practices there. WebMD lists 14 physicians in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at the hospital, and U.S. News has a doctor finder for its endocrinologists. Treat these as starting points and confirm details with the practice.

Baylor Scott & White

We didn't find an official Baylor Scott & White endocrinology page for Dallas. Healthgrades, a third-party directory, lists two groups:

  • Baylor Scott & White Endocrinology Specialists North Texas, 3417 Gaston Ave, Ste 980, Dallas, practicing Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism (Healthgrades)
  • Baylor Scott & White Park Lane Endocrinology, Dallas (Healthgrades)

Because these come from third-party listings, call Baylor Scott & White to confirm the address, phone number and whether the group is taking new patients before you rely on them.

Methodist Health System

Methodist's endocrinology office is not in Dallas proper. Methodist Endocrinology Specialists is at 4560 Lake Ridge Pkwy, Suite 300, Grand Prairie, TX 75052, phone (214) 556-1446. MedHealth/Methodist Medical Group runs it, and Methodist states that the physicians there are not employees of Methodist Health System (Methodist).

That's a useful reminder for any system: a hospital name on a practice doesn't always mean the doctors are hospital employees. If it matters to you, ask. Methodist Dallas Medical Center's medical services page covers its hospital services, and WebMD lists 560 providers across 52 specialties there (third-party).

Veterans: the VA

UT Southwestern lists a VA Medical Center endocrine clinic and a diabetes and insulin pump clinic among the training sites for its endocrinology fellowship. Methodist Dallas internal medicine residents also do their endocrinology rotation at the VA hospital (Methodist). We haven't verified VA scheduling steps, so ask your VA care team how to be referred to endocrinology.

Not covered yet

We haven't verified Medical City Dallas's endocrine services, so it isn't profiled here. We would rather leave a gap than guess, and we'll add systems only when we can source them.

How to read third-party doctor listings

  • WebMD, Healthgrades and U.S. News compile their own data. Addresses, phone numbers and affiliations can be out of date.
  • Confirm a practice's details on the health system's own website or by phone.
  • Star ratings and badges don't tell you about credentials. Verify the physician separately using our license and board certification guide.
  • For referral and insurance questions, see our appointment guide.
